PierSide Grill was one of my favorite spots during my recent visit to Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Located right on the Gulf of Mexico, PierSide's patio views are unparalleled when finding the perfect location to sip a Bloody Mary. We sat nearest the beach, with an exceptional view of the ocean and the Fort Myers Fishing Pier. PierSide Grill serves up delicious seafood and burgers in a casual atmosphere and offers all of the beach cocktails you could ever imagine! I started with an Ultimate Bloody, which was delicious and garnished with a bacon straw. Yes, a bacon straw. I spoke with the bartender to ask about PierSide’s secret Bloody Mary ingredients, and all she could tell me was that they use lime, olive, and pickle juice in the mix. And that was all she wrote…. AT A GLANCE 19/20

PierSide Grill’s Ultimate Bloody was a beautiful take on a Bloody. Though served in a plastic cup (hey, it’s safe for the beach!), it had everything I could have ever wanted. The Bloody was garnished with a BACON STRAW, a shrimp, two olives, a lime wedge, and lemon wedge. The Bloody was bright red and spices floated throughout the cocktail.

GARNISH 20/20

Garnish game was on point with PierSide’s Bloody. The bacon straw took the cake for this one, and the shrimp a close second. The garnish was beautifully unique and tasted delicious.

SPICE 20/20

The spices in the Bloody were complex and perfect. Celery seed and black pepper were strong players in the flavor. The Bloody had the perfect amount of heat and a subtle fishiness that I attribute to the shrimp juices mixing with the Bloody. The use of lime, olive, and pickle juice created a unique taste as well.

TEXTURE & ACIDITY 20/20

PierSide’s Bloody was very light in texture and not acidic at all, which I will credit to the addition of the three juices/brines (lime, olive, pickle). It was the perfect refresher while sitting in the hot sun by the beach!

UNIQUENESS 19/20

The Ultimate Bloody was unique in flavor and garnishes. The bacon straw won me over and the use of the three juices had me licking my lips for more!
